"New Zealand's Napolean Dynomite"- HurricaneOne
If you like awkward comedy then you will love Eagle vs. Shark! Combining awkward moments with akward quotes you have yourself an awkward comedy. Keeping you on the edge of the seat waiting for the next bit of awkwardness. From quotes "Want to kiss?...on the lips?" to "Foolish Sucka..." you will be dying to hear whats going to be said next.
Now I dont want to ruin the movie for the reader, incase they are anxious to see it. The movie written and directed by Taika Cohen, and stars Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Loren Horsely (The Strip). It is the type of movie that you only appreciate it after reflecting about it for several hours.
After viewing this movie I thought it was rubbish, trash, garbage so on and so on. However now that I have slept on it, the movie reminds me of that awkward American movie Napolean Dynomite. The plot that has no point, the story that leads you no where, the classic case of awkwardness. Now there are some other awkward comedies out there, Running with Scissors and The Royal Tenenbaums, that after reflecting for weeks and months I did not understand and do not appreciate. Eagle vs. Shark for me falls into the Napolean Dynamite catergory, the movies that are more fun quoting and talking about then actually watching.
"So Napolean what are you going to do today?" "Whatever I feel like, GOSH!!!"
"Dont be jealous that I have been chatting with babes online all day!"
The list goes on and on from Napolean as does it for Eagle vs. Shark...
Phone Ringing "Hey Biotch" "Who dis?" "O sorry is Eric there?" "No he comes home tonight we going to the airport with the minivan, you want to come?" "No" "Can I take a message?" "Yes Sure tell him Justice is waiting for him!" Sure thing Justin!" "No Not Justin...Phone Hangup...Justicccce"
So if I was you I would recommend viewing the movie if you havent. You will be overwhelmed with awkwardness that you cant help but laugh. It is a light hearted movie full of retardeness and what have yous. Watch, Sleep on it and let me know what you think!
RingStinger is an event that is put on by the Takapuna Harriers. This is the running club that I have recently joined. The event consists of two 6k loops (12k) Through mostly muddy ass trails and some road. Some take it serious and others not so. The event was held on June 1st 2008 at 14:30. Leo and I like to do our long runs on Sunday so we figured since it was free entry and a sausage sizzle afterwards...why not do it as part of our long run.
e however eventually caught and passed the first woman, just in time for the mud. The first woman who is now in second latched onto us like a letch on its prey. We didnt try to drop her but made her feel funny. Leo and I talked about runs, workouts and many other things that we could do in the upcoming week. We also made sure to talk about how much further we were going to continue running after we finished the 12k "race". The trails and the crater was a beautiful sight, it led us back onto the road and towards the finishline, but first we had to tackle a big uphill and a steep downhill. We figured surely we would get passed on this last bit. The second woman dropped back and back we got to the top and she had fallen off...so we had thought. On the steep down hill the second woman let her body go and she raced down the hill as an uncontrolled mess. Leo and I moved out of the way, someone who was risking their life over a silly "race" need not get in our way. When I started writing this blog it was Friday the 13th. I wanted to edit and load the part III of my South Island Trip. So I edited and posted the video and had to wait for YouTube the give the go ahead. So they have and that is what is posted above.
On another note, in the States it is Father's Day. So I will like to take this time to wish my dad Vinnie "Cenzo" Petrina a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY... I also want to extend those wishes to Grandpa Lou, Grandpa Mike, Uncle Lou, Uncle Mike, Josh and Steven. Sorry that I couldnt be there in person, but I hope the blog post makes up or it. Have a great day. And for those that are interested as to when NZ Father's Day is...September, must be a Spring thing.
